Privacy policy
This page covers the DriversSeat website and the waitlist form only, during the beta preview. It does not cover the DriversSeat dashboard, which does not exist yet.
What the waitlist form collects
When you join the waitlist, we store:
- Your email address
- The state you chose
- What you told us you're shopping for, if you filled that in (optional)
- The text of the consent checkbox you ticked ("Email me about the beta")
- The date and time you submitted the form
- An internal form-version identifier, so we know which version of the page you used
That's the whole record. We don't ask for your name, phone number, address, or anything about the vehicle you actually drive or plan to buy, beyond the free-text field above.
Why we collect it
To email you when a beta spot opens, to see roughly which states people are signing up from, and to keep the "shopping for" note in case it's useful when we write to you.
Where it's stored
In a single file on our own server, outside the public web folder. We don't use a third-party mailing-list tool, CRM, or ad platform to store or process it.
The IP rate limit
To stop the form from being spammed, the server keeps a keyed, one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself, for up to one hour, purely to count how many submissions came from that connection. It's deleted automatically after the hour is up and is never linked to your email or stored with your waitlist entry.
Analytics
We use PostHog (PostHog Inc., US) to count visits, see which pages work and catch errors. It receives the page you view, your browser and approximate location, and an anonymous id kept in your browser's local storage. On this marketing page, and in the DriversSeat AI car-buying assistant app, it also receives a recording of how the page is used with all form fields hidden (in the app, all text too); the waitlist form is excluded and recordings are off on the app's sign-in and billing pages. When you are signed in to the app, PostHog sees only a one-way scrambled code of your account number. We never send your name, email, phone number or anything you type into the waitlist form or the app, and we do not sell your data or use it for advertising. We honour Do Not Track.
Access logs
The web server that hosts this site has its access log turned off. The server keeps no record of who visited the page or when; visit counts come only from the analytics described above.
No sale or sharing
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with dealerships, advertisers, or data brokers. It's used only to run the waitlist and to email you about the beta.
Retention
We keep your waitlist entry until the beta starts, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
Ask us to delete your entry
Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with (or tell us the address) and ask us to remove it. We'll confirm once it's done.
Passkeys
If you add a passkey to your DriversSeat app account, so you can sign in with Face ID, a fingerprint or your device PIN instead of an emailed code, we store only what checks it: the passkey's public key and id, the name you give it, whether it syncs across your devices, and when it was added and last used. Your fingerprint, face and PIN never leave your device and never reach us, and nothing we store can be used to sign in as you. Taking a passkey off in Settings deletes it from our records straight away. Your emailed sign-in code keeps working either way.
When the dashboard opens
Once the DriversSeat service itself is live, it will handle a lot more than an email address: your goal, your messages with dealerships, and the offers you receive. That service will have its own privacy notice, written before it opens, covering what it collects and how it's used. This page will keep covering the website and waitlist only.
