Responsible AI
DriversSeat is designed around one rule: the buyer is the captain. This page describes how the AI is meant to be used, in plain terms, while the service is still in beta and design.
How the AI is used
The plan for DriversSeat's AI is narrow and specific. It's meant to:
- Draft messages to dealerships, from a playbook built from decades on the sales desk
- Read a dealer's reply and work out what it actually said, including when it dodges a price question
- Read a manufacturer program's fine print (rates, terms, what can and can't be combined) so a buyer's target is grounded in the real numbers
It is not meant to decide anything for the buyer.
The captain loop: what always waits for the buyer
Every one of these needs the buyer's yes, edit, or no, every time:
- The first message to each dealership
- Any message that states a figure: a target, a counter, a reply to a competing offer
- Any reply to an offer
- Trade-in, financing, and F&I product terms
- Scheduling a visit or a delivery
- Anything that looks off, and everything after it
What can go out after a short hold
Only routine, figure-free follow-ups are ever allowed to go out after a short hold the buyer can cancel: a nudge on a thread that's gone quiet, a repeated request to put a quote in writing, or a plain thank-you with no numbers in it. Nothing with a number in it is ever sent this way.
The approve-everything option
A buyer can choose to see and approve every single message before anything is sent, with nothing going out on a hold at all. That's a setting, not a workaround: it's meant to be just as fully supported as the default.
What it never does, at any setting
DriversSeat's AI is never allowed to accept an offer, sign anything, agree to or take a deposit, run a credit check, or commit a buyer to a visit. Those decisions belong to the buyer, made with the dealer, off the tool.
The disclosure on every dealer message
Every message a dealership receives is designed to end with the same line, so the store always knows an AI assistant is involved:

Human review of the playbook
The playbook the AI drafts from is written and reviewed by people, not generated and shipped unread. Changes to it go through review before they reach a live conversation with a dealership.
Your data and other AI models
It is not our intent to use a buyer's messages or account data to train any third-party AI model. That's a statement of intent for how we plan to operate, not a completed audit of every vendor we may ever use; if that changes, we'll say so here.
